NIGHT TIME SKIN CARE 💆🏽‍♀️ Recommended Routine

✨Unwind and rejuvenate with an evening skincare routine that pampers your skin and promotes a radiant complexion. You may follow the same steps as your Morning routine (minus SPF protection) and implement deeper more penetrating and active ingredients at night. 🛌 😴✨

Step 1: Remove Makeup 💄

Gently remove your makeup with a cleansing oil or makeup remover to ensure a fresh start for your skincare routine. We recommend Purity Solution Cleansing Oil by Cosmedix available for purchase at STEAM Beauty & Wellness Spa

Step 2: Exfoliate 🌱

Exfoliation treatments helps remove dead skin cells and promotes cell turnover. Use a gentle exfoliant with ingredients like AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) or BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) to reveal a more radiant and even-toned complexion. Consider an exfoliating daily cleanser, deep exfoliating mask or enzyme gel. We do not recommend salt or sugar scrubs on the face. They can be uneven, abrasive (coarse granules) and can cause microtears in the skin's protective barrier. These microscopic tears can lead to irritation, inflammation and make you skin more susceptible to infection. Limit deeper exfoliation treatments to 1-2 times a week to avoid over-exfoliation.

Step 3: Active Cleansers 🌿

Cleanse your face with an active cleanser that suits your skin type. Look for active ingredients that gently exfoliate, unclog pores, and break down oil build up revealing a smoother complexion. Ingredients like salicylic acid breaks down oil/sebum secretions, glycolic acid exfoliates the skin, hyaluronic acid is a super hydrator, and essential oils have antibacterial properties.

Step 4: Serums and Retinols 💦

Deliver targeted nutrients and antioxidants to your skin with a lightweight serum. Choose one that addresses your specific concerns, whether it's a water based serum or oil based serum aim to improve hydration, brighten, nourish, sooth or firm the skin. See Water based Serums vs Oil Based Serums (We Recommended layering multiple serums for deeper penetration.) Allow each layer to full absorb before applying the next.

First Serum 💧 (Water based Serum)

Select your first serum based on your specific skin concerns, such as (hydration, brightening, nourishing or anti-aging/antioxidant protection). Apply a few drops and gently pat and spread onto your face including neck. Massage it into your face and neck using upward motions to promote circulation and a healthy glow. Allow serum to be absorbed before applying the next serum.

Second Serum or Retinol 🌙

Continue with your second serum or Retinol treatment.

Retinol is a form of vitamin A which can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Therefore, you will only use this product during your evening routine when there is no exposure to sunlight. Incorporate retinol into your evening routine for its remarkable anti-aging, acne control, pigment balancing and cell renewal benefits. Start with a low concentration and gradually increase usage over time.

Start with a small (pea-sized) amount and massage into your face and neck. Avoid delicate eye areas (eyelids and under eyes) If you are new to retinol, you will start with a lower frequency and gradually increase usage as your skin learns to tolerate it. Plan to use every other night. Replace Retinol Step with Moisture Recovery step alternately, every other day.

Step 5: Moisturize 🔒

Lock in hydration with a moisturizer that suits your skin type. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides to nourish and replenish your skin while you sleep.


Step 6: Hydrating Mask (Moisture Recovery)

(1-2 times a week)

Treat your skin to a hydrating mask once or twice a week to replenish moisture and give your complexion a boost. Leave it on for the recommended time and rinse off with lukewarm water or wear overnight while sleeping and wash off in the morning.

Do this moisture recovery step on nights you alternate your retinol routine.

Step 7: Eye Cream 👁

Apply a nourishing eye cream to the delicate skin around your eyes. Gently tap it in with your ring finger to improve circulation and reduce puffiness.

Step 8: Lip Care 👄

Don't forget to hydrate your lips with a moisturizing treatment before bedtime.
